IIDA NY Pioneering Design® | Practices of Personal Identity

A curated showcase spotlighting designers and artists who are redefining the practice through personal vision, inclusive values, and independent innovation. This event celebrates the voices shaping the future of design from the margins to the mainstream.

This showcase is a celebration of designers and artists who aren’t afraid to bring their personal identity into their work. Every participant in this year’s event identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community, and many also represent other unique backgrounds in the arts and design. The work being presented spans disciplines - architecture, furniture, fashion, poetry - but what unites everyone is a shared commitment to visual language, fun, and self-expression.

Event Schedule

6:00–7:00 PM – Rooftop Welcome Reception: Enjoy cocktails, light bites, and live music while mingling with guests. The hour will include sponsor acknowledgments and brief introductions from our featured speakers.

7:00–8:00 PM – Showcase Presentation Crawl: Explore the second-floor exhibits and meet the participating designers and artists. Small bites, beverages, and music by our event DJ will be provided.

8:00–9:00 PM – Sponsor Raffle & Closing Celebration: Gather for our sponsor raffle followed by a lively closing party featuring a drag performance.

This event will provide 1# IDCEC CEUs

The current IIDA compliance period runs from Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2025. IIDA Professional and Associate Members are required to complete and report 1.0 CEU (10 hours) of continuing education prior to Dec. 31, 2025. All Professional and Associate Members (active and inactive) including educators, IIDA Fellows, and chapter officers must adhere to IIDA compliance requirements. IIDA accepts all IDCEC approved courses. It is the responsibility of each member to maintain their own records. Please review these Helpful Hints before using the IDCEC CE Registry.
